Hello I need help with this one.I found she was the wife of my Ancestor, Stephen Rich. They were married about 1639 in London, and had their only son, Richard Rich (1640-1692) the following year. Records say he died Abt 1675 in Portsmouth, Newport, Rhode Island.
I have looked around the Internet to find what makes the most sense. I find her over and over as Stephen's wife.Sometimes she is called Miss Saltonstall, sometimes, Anne and sometimes Lady Anne Saltonstall.Sometimes she has no parents, sometimes her parents are Sir Richard Saltonstall, and Grace Kaye.
I found a list of Richard's family members who came on the Arabella with Gov. Winthrop in 1630. Anne who would have been about eight then, was not listed with the family.
In another place I found a list of the children.Anne was not on the list.In one place I found where Richard had a daughter Anne, by his second wife, but she would have been ten years younger, and she died very young.
Anne's mother is another mystery. She is not on the list of Richard and his children who came on the Arabella, yet most records say she died about 1635 in Watertown, Suffolk, Massachusetts. Richard is supposed to have gone home for good before that. His son Richard Jr. remained here, and started a family. Some of his other sons remained too, but I don't find off spring for them.Anne's older sisters went back to England and married there.
My question is, Is Anne part of that family or not?Was she a real person? Thank you for your thoughts on this.
