I have an old letter that was written by my gr grandfather and gr gr grandfather on 15th of February of 1878. In this letter they met up and tried to record some of the family history. So far, I have found 99% of the letter to be factual. However...
In the letter it talks about a grandfather being born on a boat as his parents crossed the Atlantic. It says that this male's father was born in Germany in 1741 and the child was born in 1761. As all old letters can be confusing, it is difficult to tell which person's grandfather they are talking about in the letter.
At any rate, they mention a place in North Carolina called Raleigh's Landing. To date I haven't been able to find this place.
Would like to ask for help from other Salts researchers. - If you are a Salts researcher and are working on the Washington County, TN line, please keep an eye out for the different ship lists. I have been told that children born on boats during this time would have been recorded down at the bottom of the ships list.
