Although Henry C. Salts has been listed as a child of Henry and Mary Brown Salts I have just obtained his wife's application for a widow's pension that changes his lineage. In this package of "231" pages, I found a sworn statement from Daniel Salts, clearly stating that "he" was the father of Henry C. Salts, who was husband of Catherine C. Smith. It also stated Daniel's occupation as Constable of District 15 of Washington Co., TN. The date of his letter was June 13, 1879, which also alters the death date of Daniel Salts.
Do to lack of past evidence, it was always thought that this Henry was a son of Henry and Mary Brown Salts -simply because he was listed in their household on one of the censuses.
If you have Henry listed as the younges child of Henry and Mary Brown Salts, you now need to move him over to Daniel and Rebecca Ball (McCardle) Salts.
Also, there was a third child to Henry C. and Catherine C. Smith Salts. Besides Charles A. and John W. (Waid), there was also a Henry C. who died young. This Henry was born on June 20, 1860 and died March 17 1879 -both locations Jonesborough, Wa. Co., TN. Have other dates for his parents and brothers if interested.
