Re: Did JAMES SANDS & SARAH WALKER have a dau. SARAH who md Nathaniel NILES?
There does seem to be a bit of confusion regarding the date of Sarah's death. The Cow Neck information would seem to come from Malcom Wilson's "Descendants of James Sands of Block Island" where he places her death in 1726 at that location. However, Ann McKee Niles and John Niles have noted a deed of transfer which states:
…I Nathaniel Niles of South Kingstown…being in ye latter time of my years and expecting according to the experienced course of nature shortly to depart from time to eternity…[sell ten acres] bounded west by the remaining part of the farm whereon my dwelling house standeth now…[which is the land that I had previously reserved] to my own use or the use of my late wife Sarah Niles…(italics added)” (South Kingstown Land Evidence, 5:169). See Niles, Anne McKee, 19.
Thus it would seem that the comment by Malcom Wilson that Sarah died in 1726 at Cow Neck Long Island would be inaccurate. She died sometime before 9 Feb 1725, probably in South Kingstown.
