Dear Michelle Sanger,
I know it is over a year since you posted this message. But I guess your request has not been responded to - I see there is no reply to your posting yet.
I am a descendant of the Sanger Circus too and 'Lord' George Sanger (1827-1911; there is quite a no of Georges in the Sanger family!) is my g.g. Grandfather’s (John Sanger1815-1889) brother, which makes 'Lord' George Sanger (if he is the same one you mention) an uncle to my great grandfather John 'Johnnie' Sanger (1853-1929). According to the report I have (after a long time of research for my Sanger linage, like you I had very little information about my Sanger linage a few years ago - I live in Uganda, East Africa) it shows, 'Lord' George Sanger had two brothers. John (later referred to as 'Lord' also) and William Sanger (1826-1901). William Married Mary Rebecca Mullett but nothing is mentioned about whether they had children.
I would like to give you more information, but I am not so sure we talk of the same people……..there is nothing in the report about a Charles Andrew Sanger, though I have a picture of William Sanger with black people in the background and it is believed that he was away from England……foreign land as it is put. Could it be he was in South Africa?
If you could find out the name (and year of birth or death) of your Great-Grandfather Charles Andrew Sanger’s father (you do mention they – Charles and Dorothy – arrived in SA with their parents……..if you search, you could get some information somewhere – I don’t know) I might be able to help with the information I have. I got quite some information on the Sanger Circus family – after long period of search, like I said earlier, I had very little information a few years ago.
Good luck – who knows we could be related!
Best regards,
Sabilla Sanger Khan
