As I said in the earlier post I dont know where John is from as there are no Sangers in Wiveliscombe prior to this marriage entry. Often the parish records will detail the town non parish members were from, but not in this case.
John married Margaret Whitfield in Wiveliscombe in 1630 and I can confirm 4 children born to them there (Adam, Anstice, Peeter, John). Their burials were either not recorded or are elsewhere. The Whitfields were a local Wiveliscombe family (Margaret born there 1606 and her father Peeter in 1587).
Peeter appears to be the only one to stay in the town, marrying Elizabeth Snow in 1659, but by now he was Peeter Swanger. No idea why the name change but it changed again (for some) in the early 1800s to Swainger.
What part of Somerset is your St Thomas church? Wiveliscombe is far west, close to the Devon border
Cheers
Peter Swainger
