Re: Serching all Sangliers
My father and his family were from the St Pancras area of London. His father died when my father was 3 (1921) and we know little of the earlier history. They were grocers and owned a Continental Delicatessen called "Sanglier". Back then that type of shop was extreemly rare which leads us to believe that the family had only been in Britain for around a hunred years or so.
I did have one odd contact with a Sanglier who was the CFO for Ciba Geigy in Switzerland. He told me that the Sanglier family was a small but very old family descended from the Baron de Languedoc in France. They took the name Sanglier from the depiction of the wild boar on the family crest. However, if there is any real link to that background I have't been able to find it.
