Re: Hertfordshire and Essex, England, Sapsfords
I have a distant Sapsford connection you may be interested in. A distant cousin of mine, one Anastacia McConnell, married a man named Lord Cecil Algernon Talbot-Sapsford in Marrickville, Sydney, Australia in 1926.
Cecil is said to have inherited an old castle somewhere in Ireland. He is listed twice in the NSW BDM Index, once as Talbot-Sapsford, and once as plain Sapsford. He was born in Sydney in 1881 and his parents were Alfred Alexander Sapsford and Mary Rice.Alfred died in Sydney in 1927 and his parents were given as Newman and Jane E. Sapsford.
I've looked up the IGI and found some Newman Sapsfords in Cambridge, although the latest one, b 1817, looks a generation too old to be Alfred's father. However it looks like a family name.
I've always been intrigued by this relationship in our family.I have doubts about the validity of the title, but there could be some interesting connections.
