Well Everyone the Sardiña's have a very long history in both Spain and Portugal. My family grew up in extremadura (western spain) and we've been in Merida & Badajoz for 400 years. The name originally derived from Sardinha (Portugal) and we continue to have family there as well.

My Grandfather (Arturo Sardiña) had several siblings (Felica, Enrique, Fausto) and came from and his fathers generation had 12 children.

My Aunt Lucia traced the family back through the 15th Century and and the helmet in our family crest is from helping win some war in the late 1600's.

There are fewer Sardiña's (males born to males) left than you would imagine. The spanish civil war got three of my uncles. And my cousin Arturo Sardiña is the last male from our line. (I am technically a Thiele-Sardiña since my mother is the Sardiña)She came from a family of 12 with only two males surviving the war, and only my uncle Antonio having a male child.

Hope this helps.....

Roy Sardiña
