Re: Sargent, Digory of Boston and Worcester
Just wondering if you or anyone else of this line, has ever looked at a list of others that were in the same regiment of Digory Sargent's under Capt Henchman? There is also a John Sergeant listed. He can not be his son, as his son John was not born yet, or was Digory reportedly married as of yet.. It more than likely was not his father who was a John Sargent from St Germans, Cornwall, England, as there is never a record of that John coming over to England to anyone's knowledge or documentation of that. Who was this other John Sergeant? That may be the key in figuring out where or whom Digory came from in Boston before Worcester. Baptism Records indicate from Cornwall that Digory had siblings. Something to think about. John Sargent who m. Martha Axford, also apparently had a son named John. Was this John Sergeant listed in the same regiment, perhaps a brother of Digory's? Did they come to America together?
See baptism's of John & Martha's children of St Germans.

Our Sargent Family DNA results through the FTDNA service has pointed to a primary marker match with that of a Langlais descendant. Without naming names for privacy, he descended from Daniel or rather Louis Phillippe Serviens dit Langlais in Canada. Our Sargent male did a Y~DNA 25 marker STR(Short Tandem Repeat). The Langlais person did a Y~DNA 12 marker STR test. We need other Sargent malesfrom theDigory Sargent line to further test to the 25-37 marker STR range in order to get a complete analysis. A further analysis will prove without a doubt our Sargent's were indeed relatives, and may have came from the same Sargent line in Cornwall England. To try to further explain, A 12 marker DNA test does not give a full analysis of the DNA going back to the early 1600's. The DNA cycle has to be repeated a full 25~37 in Short Tandem Repeats in order to find a complete result dating further back in time.
Our Sargent line(and I speak for quite a few)are asking that more Y~DNA testing be done on males Sargent's of the Digory line in order to compare. We need them to test at least to the 25-37 marker range. I really think there is a large possibility we are related. But we will not know until further tests are done.
Please email me if you are interested and we may be able to possibly help with costs in some way. The current 37 marker test is $169.00 and you get a Authentic Certificate from FTDNA on your Official Result and join the other 15 Sargents in the group hoping to connect and help other Sargent lines. You can also additionally submit your data to Y search, a world data base for matching with others through out the world narrowing down their search as well.
As I related, there are currently 15 other Sargent's participating in the Sargent DNA study at FTDNA(Family Tree DNA) alone but there are other services to use. We need your help in order to make this project more successful! I am not a spokesperson for FTDNA or am I affiliated with it in any way. I have no monetary gain in this what so ever. It is all about helping other Sargents connect and finding ancestors.
