Shirley, So glad to hear the name Henderson mentioned relating to Satterfield.Have been wondering how they were related. When I was a child in the 1920's!!! a Martin Henderson and his wife Roxie often visited my grandmother, Elizabeth Anna Satterfield, daughter of Martin Asbury and Phoebe Kirk Satterfield.Mary Ann was her sister.Martin and Roxie were very large people and would lay the mattress off the bed to the floor to sleep so they would not break the bed frame.Martin worked on the railroad. If I remember correctly it was B&O and he was an engineer.I was very young at the time and may have the info on that mixed up.
I have not forgotten the info on Satterfields to send you but there is so much I have not had time to type it all onto this forum. But will do my best soon.BTW, their ancestors were Worrall, Kirk, Nuzum and others. In fact Enoch Kirk, brother of Phoebe Kirk Satterfield, starved to death during the Civil War at confederate prison, Andersonville.Reference:Allegheny Passage by Bittinger, History of Church of Brethren, West Marva Distr.Emily
