John, Michael Pulse, Berkeley Co WV,1787

The 1787 tax report of Berkeley Co WV shows both John and Michael Pulse (Pultz).John appears to be the John Puls who received a Federal Pension for service during the Revolution, from PA; his application says he was born in Lancaster Co PA (this may have been the part that later became Lebanon Co PA) in 1759, lived for a while after the war in Berkeley Co WV, then moved to Green Co OH; the application also mentions a Michael Puls Jr., (likely the man who also lived in Berkeley Co in 1787, and which also suggests that the father of both men was an elder Michael Pulse/Pultz) and the application also mentions a Jacob Puls was an older brother of John.A correspondent has told me that there was a Jacob Pulse/Pultz from Lebanon Co PA who moved from Lebanon Co PA to Montgomery Co OH between 1810-1820 (this Jacob was married to Polly Noyse, and had a son George born in Lebanon Co in 1810-George later married Elizabeth Stroup/Straub in Montgomery Co OH).

There is a will in 1784 probated in Lancaster Co PA (Lebanon was still in Lancaster in 1784) for a Michael Boltz of Lebanon Twp; it mentions Michael Jr., Jacob, Eva Shriner, Dorothy Tiedrick, Barbara Gardner, and Sabrina Bower.This Michael may have been the father of the John and Michael who were in Berkeley in 1787, and the Jacob who went to Montgomery Co OH 1810-1820.

On 29 Sep 1741 Johann Michael Boltz arrived in Philadelphia aboard the ship "Lydia".This is one reason why I found the name of Lydia Pultz, who married Jacob Saville in Berkeley Co WV before 1800, of great interest.
