Re: Benjamin Sawyer, CANAAN, NH
One more Kingston, NH worm for the box ...
In the pension files of Edmund Sawyer 1760 Newbury, MA is this:
'August 31, 1832 Joshua Richardson of Canaan, N. H., testified to service in the same company with Edmund Sawyer for one year in 1778; that they were discharged together and returned home at the same time.'
Edmund Sawyer's sister Esther mar. 1775 William Richardson, I suppose the one in Canaan, NH;(Another Sawyer this branch, Elizabeth mar. 1744 a William Richardson, also, I suppose, later in Canaan.)
On reading of Ben's move to Canada, first thought was that he may have been moving BACK to Canada. However, since Ben was appointed 'fence viewer', he was likely a trusted member of that second group of settlers from the MA/NH border.Just a guess ..
