There is a marriage record for J. H. Baker and E.R. Scallorn for Nov. 11, 1874
The 1880 Fayette Co Tx census shows:
Joseph H. BAKER Self M Male W 50 GA Farmer NC ---
Elisabeth R. BAKER Other M Female W 35 TX Keeping House LA TX
Joseph BAKER Son S Male W 13 TX Farm Laborer GA TX
Virginia BAKER Dau S Female W 8 TX GA TX
George W. L. BAKER Other S Male W 8M TX GA GA
Frances Mary BAKER Other S Female W 8M TX GA GA
I believe Joseph the son and the daughter Virginia to be from his first marriage.I was in Fayette Co recently doing research and found a transcribed copy of a document entitled "Estate of the Minors" where a John H. Baker is the guardian of the named minors and he states that his wife M.J. Baker died in 1873--the children named are John T.,Mary A., Mattie (Martha), William A., Joseph, Fannie (Francis), Jennie, and Green.I believe this John H.Baker and Joseph H. Baker to be the same person. This was a transcribed typewritten copy and perhaps an abbreviation for Joseph was taken for John. The children match the 1870 census.
I am looking for any info on the descendants of Joseph H. Baker and Elizabeth R. Scallorn.
Thanks for any help.
