Peter Scallorn and Ann Dement
I would like to present a thought. I have talked to Ellie Clausen about this already, and I feel that more heads work better than one. I am questioning if Peter Scallorn b. 1688 and Ann Dement are the parents of John Scallorn b. 1750's in Charles County, MD. Ann was the widow of George Dement III, according to Dement researchers, and had a son, John Dement, in 1724.So, by the time she married Peter, she was in her 30's and he,46 years old.John Scallorn was born about 20 years later. I don't think it is likely Ann ?, widow Dement, was John's mother, and she wouldn't have named two sons John. I think either Peter had another family before Ann, and that one of his sons was John Scallorn's father.Or, perhaps Peter married a younger woman after Ann, and fathered John in his 60's.Or could there have been time for Peter and Ann to father a son soon after they married, perhaps the Peter whom we have believed was John's brother, and he was John's father? Does anyone have any comments or thoughts on this?
