Ellie, The Eliza J. referred to in your query was Eliza Jane Poteete, b 1830 Henderson Co., TN, oldest child of Elvis Simeon Poteete and Mary Singleton.They had moved to Tippah Co., MS, by 1843.My husband's grandfather< Joseph Daniel, was born there.George W. and Eliza are listed on the 1850 Census, Tippah Co., MS, with one son, 1 yr old.Eliza is listed on the probate record when distribution was made of the small estate of Elvis S. Poteete, in 1881, in Conway Co., AR.I have more info on this Poteete family.If it would help, would be glad to share.
