Scantlebury, Switzer connection. Devon to Australia mid 1800's
Can anyone help with my Scantlebury connection.
John Henry Scantlebury arrived in Australia about 1852 at the age of 24. He married Anne Flynn about 1862 in Bowen, Queensland, and they had four children that I know of, all girls. Annie Josephine b 1869, Mary Margaret b 1872, Henrietta b 1874 and Eliza b 1876.
Annie and Henrietta married Switzer brothers Thomas Henry and John Alfred William respectively, both seamen.
John Henry Scantlebury was a pilot, stationed at Mackay Harbour. He was born in Saltash, Cornwall in c1828 to James Scantlebury and Diana Doible (Dobble, Dobbel??)James was listed in the 1851 census as a 65 year old living at 36 Garden St. Morristown Devon, his occupation was Foreman of the Dock and his birthplace was Stoke Climsland,Cornwall.
His wife was 63 and was born in Saltash, Cornwall. There was also an Harriett age 36 and Anne age 30 at the same address.
Would love to hear from someone.
