Elizabeth,
If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.I will try to see what help I can give.I do have my Schafer family line traced back to at least 1720, in Germany, including my gggrandfather, Johannes Henricus, who emigrated to the U.S. from Germany, to the present day Schafer family. My Baum ancestors did not change the spelling of their name, but continued using Baum, instead of Wood. This I have documentation on.Let me know the names and info of your ggrandparents and grandmother, and I'll see if there is any corollation between your family and mine.As far as the Slagle line of my family goes, I have very limited info available.I do not know where my gggrandmother, Eliza Cordelia Slagle's family is from originally. The only info I have is that she was born in 1857 in IA, and that she had at least one sister named Emma, who was married to John Carter, and at least two brothers, Douglas and Vern(e) or Vernon. She married my gggrandfather, Philip J. Kilmer, on Nov. 19, 1873.And I have some info on some of their children, with the help of several people. Also, do you have some of these names in your family line?Wies, Pape, Kilmer, Ivie, Baum, Hurley, Sessions, or Shaver.Let me know your thoughts. You can email me directly at [email protected]; just please be sure to put Schafer or Slagle family in the subject line.Maybe we can find a connection between our family lines!!
Sincerely,
Michelle
