The reported ancestry of the Schenck Van Nydeggen families goes back in time a considerable ways, including claims to the time of Charlemagne. In any case, this Schenck surname line has certainly been around a long time & descendants would be many. Various accounts of this Schenck ancestry show discrepant information, & documentary proofs are few. My ancestor was Roelof Martense Schenck, reportedly born in 1619, Amersfoort, Utrecht Province, Netherlands. Has anyone conducted Schenck research in the Utrecht Archives?
A Schenck-surname yDNA project would likely be helpful in ancestral research. Currently, there are a few Schenck samples in the Family Tree DNA database, but I see no organized public project. It is hoped that several Schenck-surnamed males might have their yDNA sampled through FTDNA, or other lab, & made available publicly through www.ysearch.org &/or a to-be-developed Schenck surname yDNA project.
