My great grandfather was Jacob SCHENK Davis, B: 10AUG1843, Lancaster, PA and D: 15MAY1904, Weatherford, PARKER, Texas. He married Eliza Jane Hershey, B: 09OCT1843 Dauphin County PA and D: 06OCT1843 Macalister, PITTSBURG, Oklahoma. Her parents were Christian and Bessy BLESSEY (sp) Hershey. They were married on 21FEB1874 in Middletown, DAUPHIN, PA by Revered Daniel A.L. LAVERTY at the Church of God. They had 4 boys and 2 girls. Jacob pretty much was in Middletown before the CIVIL WAR working as an apprentice cabinet maker. Then, he served in the UNION ARMY from 1862 to 1865. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic.
What I want to know were there any women in the SCHENK family that married a DAVIS during the period between 1825 and 1840? I believe that Jacob's mother was a SCHENK, thus his middle name, living their in either DAUPHIN or LANCASTER counties, Pennsylvania. We also not sure of the spelling of the SCHENK sir name that Jacob would have used. Most of the time, he used Jacob DAVIS and some of the time Jacob S. DAVIS.
The SCHEN/K connections in this Forum intrigued my brother and I to the extent of writing this query.
