Joseph Edward Schmidhammer, 79, Lancaster OH Obituary 5/28/04
Joseph Edward "Joe" Schmidhammer, 79, of Lancaster, died Friday, May 28, 2004, at Crestview Manor.
He was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Dennison, the son of the late Raymond C. and Adele (Ullrich) Schmidhammer. Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving in World War II. He was a life member of the China-Burma-India Hump Pilots Association Inc. and a member of the Lancaster Glass Management Club.
He began his career as a certified public accountant with Lancaster Colony Corp. and retired as vice president and controller of Lancaster Glass Corp., working for 21 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lois Tarrantelli; and brother, Raymond P. Schmidhammer.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jean Schmidhammer, whom he married Feb. 17, 1950; daughters, Jill (Ron) Estep of Stewart, Ohio, and Joanna Stemen of Lancaster; son, Jon B. Schmidhammer of Westerville; grandchildren, Shannon, Nicole, Allison, Noah, David and Ronnie; brother, Gerald I. (Betty) Schmidhammer of Union, Ky.; sister-in-law, Mary Lou of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
There will be no services. Contributions may be made in Joe's memory to Immaculate Conception Church-School, 206 N. First St., Dennison, Ohio 44621.
