Re: Looking for Info regarding Katharina SCHNAUFFER
According to the Jim Wood book, "The Snuffers" this reference includes Catharina Schnauffer:
"In 1752, the year after the Schnauffer family sailde to America, Hans Michael's mother, Anna, died in Renningen. His father, Hans Jerg, had died in 1745.Anna Schnauffer's probate records remain in the Renningen town archives to this day. They reveal that her estate, since there was no will, was partitioned by her administrators, who noted: 'Hanns Michael Schnaufer, (former commoner of this place, about 1 year ago went to Pennsylvania.)' They named a Solomon Schnauffer of Renningen, not further identified, as curator of Michael's share of the estate until such time as he could return and claim it.Michael's two sisters also shared in their mother's estate. They were Margaretha, 30 (b. ca 1721) and unmarried, whose guardian was Hanns Michel Hoch, a Renningen baker, and Catharina Schnauffer, wife of Michel Weh, a shepherd at nearby Leonberg.Margaretha married Andreas Tomppert three years later.
But that's not all: the administrators also disclosed that a Hans Jacob Schmid-bleicher, a farmer of Renningen, was the illetitimate son of Anna Schnauffer... (and it goes on about him.I would appreciate any information about this illegitimate son because I believe him to be of the Smith line later married into the American Schnauffer/Snuffer line.)
