We're probably related. I'm Robert Schneck. My grandfather was also a Sam Schneck but he died around 1959 ( a truck fell on him). These Schnecks came from a little town in Galicia in what was then Austria-Hungary . The name sounded something like "Pizhun- yizhun" or "Vizhun-yizhun" which was near a bigger city, Kolomyya. You won't find it on an Austrian map-it's now part of the Ukraine.
My grandfather married Pearl Lucks, my grandmother who is now in her mid-nineties and came from the same unpronounceable town.
There probably aren't any more Jewish Schnecks in that area. Elie Wiesel described the massacre of the Jews of Kolyyma in the beginning of his book, Night.
