Betty,
I’m not searching the Plathe records and don’t expect to. However, since you are only interested in a short time period, if you would pay for the rental of the film(s), I would be willing to look over marriages and see what I couldfind. That is, I would be willing IF we could figure out where to look.
BUT, I don’t think there are any LDS films that cover the time period when your grandparents got married, i.e.,about 1879. The Kirchenbuchduplikat’s don’t go past 1874. (Germany was unified in the 1871-1875 time period. Civil marriages became compulsory in 1875, and the churches were no longer required to make duplicates of their record books. Hence, the 1874 cutoff date.)
I think I have seen a few films that cover civil records, but, I’m sorry to say, I don’t see anything like that for Plathe.
