Phoebe Schoolcraft, b.1836, wife of William, lived Van Buren Co., MI
I have an original postcard photograph of what appears to be four generations, identified as “Grandma Towner; Aunt Phoebe Schoolcraft; my mother; and Marjorie Tripp”. I’d like to get the picture back to descendants or family members. Based on census records, photo was surely taken in Van Buren Co. or Allegan Co., MI. Photo taken in “1909”.I definitely believe the people in the photo to be Susan Mallory Towner, born Jul 1850; Phoebe Schoolcraft, born Nov 1836; and Marjorie C. Tripp, born May 1897. The fourth person is probably Orah L. Towner Tripp (mother of Marjorie), born 1876.
I found in the 1900 census for Allegan Co., MI the Towner family, showing father Ralph (52); mother Susan Towner, born Jul 1850; Pearl (22), Della (9); and Claude H. Tripp (26), his wife Orah L. (24); and Margery C. Tripp, born May 1897.In 1920 census for Van Buren Co., MI, living with Claude and Ora were their daughter and son in law, Margery C. and Wilmer E. Williams.Phoebe A. Schoolcraft was in the 1880 census for Pine Grove (Van Buren Co.) MI, age 44, wife of William, age 44. In the 1900 census for Van Buren Co., MI, Phebe Schoolcraft’s birth is shown to be Nov 1836 in NY.Inconclusive but interesting that in the 1850 census for Oswego Co., NY there are sisters Phoebe and Susan Mallory.
