I received an interesting message today which may intrigue some of you sleuths. Here it is: "Hello Mary,
I have recently purchased an antique spinning wheel and I am trying to find some information about the wheel.It is stamped with the makers name; D. Schoonover.Along with your family tree do you have any information about occupations of family members?
I did receive some info about this wheel, I bought it in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.This is the info I got about the wheel;
Your wheel looks like those made by Joel Farnam and family, who lived and worked in Owego, N.Y--which is right near Binghampton (on the PA border.)There was also a group in the Newark Valley who built similar wheels.
I don't agree with this because of the name stamped on the wheel is different and it is a very common design.I included this info encase this name could be linked to the Schoonover family tree.
I thought it would be exciting to find something possibly linked to the family other than just names on paper.I hope this is a possibility."
