Hi Dennis:Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post your message about Catherine Schreckengast, daughter of Georg Heinrich Schreckengast.I am curious to know where you obtained your information?
Catherine's gravestone in the Immanuel Church cemetery #168, gives her dates as June 21, 1783 - Aug. 21, 1843.She was married to John Gundrum, same cemetery, #165, June 2, 1776, d. March 23, 1848, who was born in Bethel Twp., Berks Co., son of Frederick Gundrum (as evidenced by the Letters of Administration after Frederick's death). In the Family Register, found in the Gundrum Family file in the Lebanon Co. Historical Society, it appears that John and Catherine were married on 11 March 1800.This register also records the baptisms of their children: Jacob, (Feb. 20, 1801); Johannes (Nov. 17, 1802); Elizabeth (20 Sept. 1804); Sammuel (13 September 1806); George (15 December 1808); Sara (March 2, 1810); Frederick (March 1, 1813); Catrina (January 15, 1815).(Unfortunately it stops beforeMary Ann (Feb. 12, 1818); Henry (Dec. 21, 1819),William (1823) and Solomon)However, the article:Genealogical and Personal History of Lycoming Countylists their children as:George, Jacob, Frederick, Samuel, Henry, William, Solomon, Mary, Catherine, Susan, Anna and nameless.Samuel was bapt. at Swatara church, Lebanon Co. on Sept. 13, 1806; Georgewas baptized at Swatara on January 29, 1809.He died April 29, 1853 in Snyder Co.John Frederick was also baptized at Swatara on April 1, 1813.
My understanding is that Catharine had a cousin Catherine,(daughter of Johan Heinrich Schreckengast)who was very close in age and she married John Kneiss/Neece/Knis and they moved to Indiana.
I would love to correspond with you, or anyone, who has more information on the Schreckengast or Gundrum families!Beverley
