Surnames seemed to have been spelled inconsistently.I've found Scrivner, Scrivener, Scribner, Scribnor, and Scrivnor.
I have a relative--John Scrivnor--who was born late 8th century,and whose father was a John Scrivener (The Schoolmaster).I'm telling you this to suggest that you might try re-spelling your surname and see if you have better luck.My great-great grandfather was born Herbert Orville Scrivener, but he changed his surname to Scribner.And so it goes. . .
