If the given name "Green" is in honor of Nathan Green then 1775 would not likely be a good birth date. I tend to keep all of the scraps that I find so I have a John Scribner of the same era. There is a marriage listing for this fellow in Wake County, NC.
I am pleased that you mention my father. Thank you. He and his contemporaries had begun to crack the mystery of the Scribner clan in NC.
My macho compells me to take exception to older men and younger wives. Your point may be well taken in these times, but in colonial times some of the older men were titans. One of my favorites was Isaac Shelby who not only led a faction of troops at Kings Mountain in the Revolution but also led 5000 Kentuckians into battle in the War of 1812.
