Joseph Seamans Richmond County Virginia and descndants
I would like to discuss the Joseph Seamans family(wife Charity, Sons: Aaron, Moses, Ephraim, John, Mycajah, Obediah, Jeremiah, Asseneth) on the board with anyone who is serious about providing and receiving information that is backed by primary source documentation. I researched this family extensively on the ground in the counties where Joseph and Ephraim lived and have a chronology of court documents. I have been away from genealogy for about 7 years and as the internet has blossomed, I now find a plethora of misinformation and unproven statements on the boards. (Here, WorldConnect, LDS group sheets etc.)It pains my soul to see so much information out there that people are passing as fact that is just not documented. I would like to start with Joseph's will and work toward the present, Ephraim and Mary, Joel,Johnathan, Ephraim Jr., Jesse, Bell etc. I would also like to see any REAL documentation that Joseph is descended from Francis Symonds (Northumberland County), or John Simmons/Seamans, or John Simmons and Katherine Davis, was married first to an Elizabeth, or that his wife Charity was a Bell. This will be good for starters. Also, I would like to find other males with the last name Simmons or Seaman(d)s who feel comfortable that they are descended from Joseph, Ephraim (or any of Joseph's other sons)who would like to enter DNA samples in the Simmons/Seamans Y project. I would like to prove beyond a shadow that I am related to this family.
