Seeripe, Zeerip, Zeeryp's in Michigan
My husband's grandfather was named Albert Carson. He died in 1953 in Mpls, MN. His marriage certificate listed his name as Albert Seeripe, from Missaukee Co, Michigan.I have since learned that his family came to Michigan from the Netherland's around 1890 and settled in Richland Twshp, Missaukee Co., Mich. close to Cadillac, Michigan. The 1900 census lists their last name as Seerip, the 1910 census lists it as Zeerip and the 1920 census lists it as Zeeryp. This last surname is the one they have used for their social security applications and I have been able to find a number of them using the Zeeryp name.Their given names changed also as they were longer in this country. I have seen variations on Albert's father's name from Reindert to Rinder to Rene and his mother from Bonsfe to Bertie to Bertha. Rinder was born in Sept, 1867 in the Netherlands and immigrated to the U.S. in 1888 and Bertha was born in Aug, 1866 and immigrated to the U.S. in 1890.
Their are a number of siblings that I am still trying to sort out.they are Herman Zeeryp, b. June 1890 in Michigan; Albert Zeeryp, b. Jan. 1893 in Michigan; Alfie Zeeryp, b.March 1895 in Michigan; Luis Zeeryp, b. Feb. 1898 in Michigan; Nellie Zeeryp, b. 1903 and died in 1922 in Michigan, Cecil Zeeryp (twin?), b 1903 in Michigan; (Genie?)Zeeryp, b. about 1906 in Michigan; Annie Zeeryp, born about 1909 in Michigan and Rinder Zeeryp, born about 1912 in Michigan. It appears that some of these names may have changed or some were nicknames. There may also have been more children.I have heard that there was a "Harry" in this family also.
I have also found Luis Zeeryp (age 21 in 1920 census) residing with his grandparents, Luis and Petrica Carson on a farm near Rinder and Bertha's.
If anyone has info. about the names of these siblings and also the parents of Rinder and Bertha Zeeryp, I would like to share data.
