Re: Chicago Sehrs in 1870-80s
Peter and Anna Sehr emmigrated to Chicago in 1878 with several of their children from Germany. They are listed in the 1880 census and again in the 1900 census.Their daughter Elizabeth was my GG grandmother and was a teenager when she came over; she raised my mother. My mother (now 86) remembers all the sisters and has many stories to tell about them. Peter and Anna Sehr and several of the daughters and their families are buried in St Boniface cemetary on the northside of Chicago.I think Susanna was their younger sister.Lena married a fellow named Koenig. All of this is from memory as my geneo. records are in transit from an overseas posting.I do remember that Anna Sehr died around 1908 and her death certificate lists a Mattias Bruns and a Susanna Theis as her parents. They were all closely associated with the Luxemburger Brutherbund and Swesterbund of the Northside of Chicago and my GG used to mention Trier alot...whether this is because of her husband or not I don't know. She had sisters Kate, Lena (short for Helen), Anna, Mary etc etc.
