Dear Clarence I shall do my best to list those killed at Fort Seybert, Pendleton County W.va. and the sources on where to find them.Source #1The Pennsylvannia Genealogical Magazine Volume xxx111 Number 1 1983 By The Genealogical Society of Pennsylvannia Pages 204 thru 209 Information on the Kuntzer - Lauer - and Theiss Families who intermarried with the Seiberts This lists several Seiberts. Seibert J. Jacob -- Sotern, Saar to Pa. Sept.9, 1738 ship 53 Born 1717 son of Christopher Seibert and Johanna ____ Married Pa. Feb. 26, 1739 Mary Elizabeth Theiss Born June 29, 1721 Grunbach, Rheinland - Came to Pa. with mother and Stepfather Henry Lorentz and sisters. Jacob Seibert his wife and mother Killed at the massacre of Fort Seybert Pendleton Co. W.Va. April 28, 1758. this book lists his brother Wendel Seibert Cousin Jacob Seibert Christian Lauer who married Capt. Jacob Seibert's sister Catherine and Matthias Theiss who married Susanna Barbara Lauer brother of Christian. Source #2 Chronicles of Border Warfare written 1895 By Alexander Scott Withers Pages 87 thru 89 lists 16 Killed and 24 missing- Source #3 Samuel Kercheval A History of the Valley of Virginia Pages 91-92 states that they seated 20 of the garrison in two rows and killed all of the twenty but the wife of Jacob Peterson who was made a captive also captive are James Dyer and his sister and Nicholas Seybert son of Capt. Jacob Age 14 --- Source 4 Oren F. Morton A History of Pendleton County W.VaPages 42 thru 49 lists those killed as Capt. Jacob Seybert - William Dyer - Hannah Hinkle a bedfast woman was burned alive in the Fort- roger Dyer and a bound boy named Wallace and a infant of a woman named Hannah was bashed against a tree after they had left the Fort and were taken pisoner because of the infant crying they killed it. - Gives prisonerers remembered as Nicholas Seybert - James Dyer - wives of Peter Hawes and Jacob Peterson and a Heavner girl- Book further states that James Dyer was effecting in the recovery of his sister Sarah Hawes.
