My wife is a Shaeffer from Fairfield County Ohio. Her lines comes from Samuel Shaeffer who's tombstone reads " Came from York PA in 1804"His father is Martin who's father is Philip. In resarching his will it shows that Philip bought land in 1734 and it later came into Samuel's father Martin, in 1756.

I have been reading with great interest the migration that these Palatine Germans made to Livingston Manor in New York in 1710.This failed settlement lead to the migration to Tulpehocken PA by many of these same families. There appears to be evidence that the Shaeffer's came in this group. Thes Shaeffers are listed as members of the Livingston Manor: Philip Schaffer, Reinard Schaffer, Gerhard Schaffer, Fredrick Schaffer, John Shaeffer.

Does anyone have any evidence of any Shaeffers coming from this Settlement. My line is on rootsweb at database - bobhill148.

Feel free to add or comment on any thougths your might have.
