The question of the extra e at the end of the name Shakespear(e) is rather meaningless as spelling was not standardised until the end of the nineteenth century, and the majority of the population could not read or write.

I believe, on the half dozen or so examples of his signature that still survive (I have seen one, it is in Worcester Record Office), that William Shakespeare himself used different spellings!! at different times.
