Re: SHARP COVE SHARPs
I would be very interested in including any information on your branch(es) of our tree that you have time to share. My address is email@example.com for private communication.
I did go through and re-examine my Sharp information and I have John Bradford Sharp's father as John Sharp. JS had two wives. The first appears on the 1850 census as Mary Jane Carroll. Her mother, Catherine Carroll, and four of Mary Jane's siblings reside with them. Some references show her as Mary Caroline Smith, but I put my confidence in the census. JS and MJC married around 1848, thus appearing on the 1850 census. JS' second wife is thought to be Elizabeth Crabb. My sources jumble some of JS' children between wives even though it is obvious by the year of their birth that which wife they would belong with. All of his children that I am able to identify are: Mary Frances, Martha Tom, James William Washington, Woodard, John Bradford, Joseph, L. Conroe, Shellie, Roy, Andrew, and Mahalra. That does make 7 boys. JS is the 6th generation in America, with the Sharps having come through Pennsylvania. He is the 19th generation from King James of Scotland.
I have Mattie Margaret Sharp as 4 years old on the 1930 census and a date of death for JBS in 1933. I had thought her to be around 7.
