Re: North Carolina Sharps in the Civil War
Do you connect to the KECKs or GRAVES (GRAFF) families? I have quite a bit on those families as well. Heinrich Honas Sharp (Henry) m/Barbara Graves -her father, Johann Sebastian Graff (John Graves) is believed to have been b/abt 1703 in Palatinate, Germany. His name appears on the ship list of the Alexander and Ann out of Rotterdam 1730.
The KECK, GRAVES and SHARP families traveled and lived in the same areas and intermarried. There are a number of SHOFFNERs there as well.Isaac Sharp Jr. (sib. of Henry Honas) also married a GRAVES. Maria Philopens Graves m/Isaac Sharp in 1765 in Orange CO, NC. They are buried in Old Stoners Church Cemetery in Orange (now Alamance) CO NC.
My info says his name was also spelled Scharf but in the photo I have of his stone it is spelled SHARP. They had 7 children. There are GRAVES buried there as well. Are you visiting near that part of the state? If so, I have directions to the cemetery if you want them.
