Sharrett/Sharrots/etc. Brown and Ryan families
I am researching the Brown family, looking for parents and siblings of Matilda Brown, born around 1839 in either OH, IND, or Mass, depending on what source you look at.On her death certificate, her father is listed as John Brown and her mother as Eunice Bartony. On the census records I have found, Eunice is too close I believe that the last name is not Bartony, and Eunice is actually her sister, not her mother.I have found Matilda on several census records and until her marriage, she is living with William Ryan in Germantown/Sunsbury, Montgomery County, OH.The mother is listed as Eunice, and Matilda is listed as domestic on one census, as William's daughter on another (although she is not--1850 census listed as the daughter, 1860 census as the domestic).Eunice is NOT on the 1850 census. However, Eunice married William Ryan, the person with whom Matilda was living, in 1851.The person who gave permission for the marriage is Joel Sharrots/Sharrit/Sharret, etc.It is spelled different on just about every census.I am trying to find the connection between the Sharrots, Browns, and Ryans. On the 1860 census, there are several people living with the Sharrots born in Indiana, so maybe that is the Indiana connection to my Matilda.Joel is listed as being born in VA, his wife, Susannah, born in PA, children Ohio and Indiana, and on one census, there is a Charles F. Brown living with them. There is also a Mary Berltina or Bartlener, age 92 or 72 living with the Sharrots on the 1860 census, born in PA, and I think this might actually be Matilda's mother, but the writing is so bad that I can't actually read what the last name even spells. It is so confusing, and I can't find who all these people are, and why on some records they have people living with a Christopher Sharrot and his wife Susannah, in German Twp. and on other records they don't.I know this is a very confusing and long query.Any help would be appreciated!
