Re: Daniel Shartz, b 1793 Maryland to IN
I am related to George through marriage. His wife, Frances was the daughter of my GGGGgrandfather, John C. Baer. His first wife, I believe was Susannah Braun (his will mentions a Christoph Brason, which I believe is Braun). This would make George and Frances cousins.John remarried after his first wife died to Catherine Delawter who is the daughter of Catherine Main and Jacob Delawter, and also Susannah Braun's niece. My line folows through John's son, Elias from his second marriage. Philip Sharts died on March 27, 1843.He was buried on March 29, 1843 in Ohio. This was in a letter from Ezra Delawter in Montgomery County, Ohio to Elias in Marion County, Indiana.According to the letter he died at 6:00 in the evening, just from weakness."Nobody seen him die and the old woman and Elizabeth were in the house, they are living at George Sharts."Geroge and his family moved to Indiana sometime between March 1846 and the Indiana census in 1850 when they were in Cass county. The other mentioned were 2 of John's other daughters from his first wife, who married Jacob and Daniel Kesselring.I am also looking for a third daughter who married a Doble, Toodle, or someting like that. She is not mentioned in any of the letters, so I am assuming she moved with them. The first letter is from 1840, so I know they were in Indiana then.I believe they were still in Md in 1836. I haven't been able to find anything in the church records in MD on John's families. You solved a mystery for me. George and Frances wedding place. They must have stopped for a time in Ohio before some moves on to Ind.
Other names of friends and or relatives in Ind are Leatherman, Brunson(they were from Kty, Bussard. Brown
and Poffenbarger in Ohio.In MD, Bittle Brandenberg, Miller Brown Gilbert, Houpt, Stein. There are many others too numerous to mention. How are you related to these people?A lot of the Baers and Brunsons are buried in the Deford cemetary. Is this where Madalena is too?My Dad started all this and visited there, but this was before John's will was discovered as well as other info.
