Re: Sarah Shatto Noble Co Ohio
Yes, I've searched the "findagrave" site several times under all variant spellings of Shatto.I have them all either identified and linked up or at least in my data base as what I call "dangling" people.
I also highly recommend another site run by LDS that has original digital images of death, birth and marriage records - and Ohio is one of the states covered ... a little bit spotty. This is a "pilot site", which seems to indicate it is in trials. They've moved it to another site on the Family Search website:
I wouldn't get too drawn into looking for Shattos in Maryland because of the info on the census returns for Sarah Shatto Carroll and Caleb Shatto.Often what got put down was from not the person him/herself but family members, eg. kids, who didn't know exactly about the person but often had part of it right ... and then extrapolated from that. Also, people at the time did not necessarily know the exact details about their own parents, even their own exact age. Caleb Shatto's mother was born in Maryland but I have yet to find many, if any, Shattos born in Maryland up until the 20th century.
The fact that Sarah "Carl"/Carroll of the 1880 census has both parents born in Maryland may mean that she was not a Shatto by birth, but her first married name. But that assumes that she herself gave the info to the census taker.
