this may sound a bit off, but my father swears that he saw a picture of women at a quilting circle with the name shaver sewn into one of the squares. The only possible relative furthest back with any connection is William Marion Shafer, serving in the CSA and supposedly gone AWOL after first hitch was up. He adopted his grandson,Charles Wesley,(b.1894) after the grandson chose to stay in that area(TN?) instead of moving off to the Northwest with his father(his mother eventually followed the father, Tobe McDowell.)William Marion Shafer was later known as a 'healer' and possibly migrated to OK/TX. Any help is greatly appreciated.
