I've been looking for my Day relatives for a long time now and thought I had really made progress when I found some of them on the 1880 census in Jimmie's Creek and then buried in the Old Wildcat Cemetery and eventually reinterred in the Fairview Cemetery. That's where I seemingly hit the dead end until Johnny Shew responded to one of my postings regarding the fact that Lewis Day had married Mary Shew before he married Ellen Gay.
Lewis and Mary's son Lewis (whose middle name was Wiley) is the brother of both Martha and Sarah Elizabeth Day.Sarah married Peter Lowrance, and after his death became the 3rd wife of William "Eli" Nipps. I believe his first two wives were also Day's, Jane(1860-1885) and Rachel (?-abt. 1894).All this time I thought Ellen was Lewis Wiley's mother….
Lewis Wiley Day married Dorcas Ann Smith (daughter of James P. and Tempa Smith, also of Marion County) and migrated to Canadian, OK.
Any additional information would truly be appreciated. This is the first time that I've heard the name Lot Day, but I do have a reference to a Needham Day born in AL in 1855 who married Margarete Van Meter born in MO in 1865.Don't have a clue about his connection, but they had the following children: Edgar b. 1891 in MO; Lay J. b. 1893 in Marion Co.;Laftie b. 1896 in Marion Co.; and Fromie b. 1898 in Marion Co. who married John Rutherford.
