Martha Shimkus
Martha W. Shimkus, 82, of Bremerton died May 27, 2001, in Bremerton.
She was born Sept. 21, 1918, in Timvick, N.D., to John and Lydia (Maier) Walker.
She was a homemaker.
She was a finalist in a senior beauty pageant and earned an award for her gingerbread house-making skill.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Wengel of Tualatin, Ore., and Robert Wengel of Longview; four daughters, De De Davis of Sun City, Ariz., Jacquelyn Mjelde of Bremerton, Margie Wengel of Morristown, Ariz., and Sandra Heintz of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Arthur Walker of Hamilton, Ohio, and Ed Walker of Salem, Ore.; two sisters, Viola Robers of Orlando, Fla., and Ella Haaglund of Miltown, Mont.; 27 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 1994; a brother; nine sisters; a daughter, Gearldine Wheeler; and a son, John.
A private memorial service is planned.
