I am a 10th generation American Shipwash and will be happy to tell you as much as I am able.My grandfather, W.L. Shipwash compiled our genealogy before his death in 1995.All the information I have came from him and a few others he credits for their assistance.
Variant spellings of the surname Shipwash have been traced through church records in England dating back to 1279AD.The church records span a period of about 300 years ending with the death of a Michael Shipwash who died in London in 1679.
The first American Shipwash was Ambrose (1660 - 1726) who came to this country as an indentured servant in 1864.According to my grandfather's records, every Shipwash in this country can all be traced back to Ambrose. So, I guess you and I are somehow related.I have a copy of the genealogy written by my grandfather. In this book, he lists a Claude William Shipwash in Dallas and a Katherine Sampson in Dallas as contributors.
