Re: Shirleys of Wayne County, MS /A Burrell Shirley b. ca. 1820s?
Burrell Shirley would have been the son of John Shirley who came to Wayne County, MS prior to 1830. This John would be the brother of Moses Shirley who died in 1826 in Darlington County, SC, David Shirley, and "probably" a Kelly Shirley.
Descendants of Moses, John and David are DNA matches.
These brothers are believed to be the sons of David Shirley found in Lenoir County,/ Dobbs County/Greene County, North Carolina in the mid to late 1700's.
These brothers moved down to Darlington County, SC.
John moved to Wayne County, MS prior to 1830. Most of the children of Moses moved to Dallas County, Al prior to 1830 and then to Washington/Choctaw county, AL and some then moved over to settle on the Lauderdale/ Clarke County, Ms line.
Nice to have someone else researching this line of Shirleys which has stopped in North Carolina in the mid 1700's.
