Your husband's grandfather John is the son of William Shoffit and Nancy Lowery.Following is William's obit from 1941.
"W. M. SHOFFIT
William M. Shoffit was born in Randolph County, Arkansas November 1, 1868 and departed this life August 6, 1941 at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 21 days.
He was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Lowery February 22, 1881, and to this union were born 9 children, 3 boys and 6 girls.
He leaves to mourn his passing his widow, two sons, John Shoffit, of Pasadena, Texas; Oscar Shoffit of Pocasset, Okla. And four daughters, Mrs. Mamie Andrews of El Reno, Okla., Mrs. Ethel Flatt and Mrs. Lizzie Smith of Centrahoma, and Mrs. Nettie Jones of Coalgate.Also a number of grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Thursday afternoon and interment was made in the Centrahoma cemetery under direction of Powers funeral home."
I am related to the Shoffit family through my paternal grandmother.Grandma's maiden name was Felton.She had a sister Mamie that married Willaim Oscar Shoffit.Oscar and John were brothers.
