Private Samuel Shoop 1821-1895 Dauphin, PA

By Stefan Fetterhoff February 16, 2008 at 02:36:30

Hello,

My 4th great grand uncle, Samuel Shoop/Schoop was a private in the Civil War from Dauphin County, PA. He was born May 14, 1821 and died March 17 1895 in Fairview Cemetery Dauphin, PA. I would appreciate any family documents, such as letters written by him, during service, copies of pictures,(of Sam), if he wrote a diary.

In August 1862, when he enlisted, he saw three major battles.- (9 months regiment) Antietam, MD, Fredericksburg, VA and Chancellorsville, VA. He also might've enlisted with his brother, Philip, in the 200th, PA. 1864, however the age of enlistment is off by about a year.

I understand that this is an strange and/or tall order. However of all my uncles, he has the most interesting service of all.

Sam married Lavina (unknown last name) They had Aaron S b. 1857 and Nathan 1865. Sam's parents were Johannes Shoop B. Dec 12, 1769-June 1855, Straw Cemetery, Dauphin, PA. Sam's mother was Elizabeth Cooper b April 24, 1784-July 1870.

I would kindly apprciate your willingness to share some documentations of Samuel's service.
