Sidwell Family - Gaston, near Liverpool England 1800's
I am a descendent of the Sidwell Family who lived at Gaston on the Mersey River, Liverpool for many generations.
My father emigrated to Australia in 1923, his father was Archer Sidwell born in Gaston in 1860's, Archer's father was Henry Sidwell born in 1819 in Gaston, and his father was Thomas Sidwell born in 1780's in Lancashire Latham.
My Sidwell ancestors were farmers on the Mersey River and they sold vegetables and animals to the ships in port at Liverpool on their way to America. My father told me when he was a little boy he went with his father to the ships with milking cows so the emigrants would have fresh milk on their trip to America, and his grandfather told him he remembered supplying fresh vegetables to the ships taking slaves from Africa to America. If anyone has info on the Liverpool Sidwell's I would love to hear from them, there must be many desendents.
