Phillip Vram Siegel and Catherine Stephenson
I found this LDS record, but can find nothing further:
Record submitted after 1991 by an LDS member:
Mary Vram Siegel
Birth:12 SEP 1778
Father:Phillip Vram Siegel
What I do know is that the wife of my ancestor, Simeon Remick (born Sept. 10, 1771, Newbury, Essex Co., MA), was Polly, but nothing further is known about her.
Based on the middle name of a grandson -- Seigle -- I've long suspected that Polly's maiden name "might" be Seigle or a form of that surname, and Polly has long been a common nickname for Mary.
The above LDS record is the first clue I've ever found and I've searched every possible site and record hoping to discover more about this Mary Siegel and her parents, but nothing has emerged.
Simeon and Polly Remick migrated from New York to Scioto Co., OH, by 1820, then to Greenup Co., KY, across the Ohio River by 1830 where at least two children married.
Simeon and Polly sold their Greenup Co., KY, land in 1835, and Simeon's name emerges 3 years later with an 1838 land patent in Alexander Co., IL, near Cairo, which appears to be the end of the trail. However, there's no proof this is the same Simeon beyond the fact that two Remick men that fit into Simeon's family profile, obviously brothers and both born in Kentucky, lived in Alexander Co., IL, from the late 1830s to the 1860s-70s.
Can anyone shed any light on this Mary Siegel born in 1778 and her parents?Or is the LDS record above just an aberration?
