GA Sigmond Pic and Newpaper Clipping
I am hoping that someone can make a connection between the Sigmons and the Hutchinsons in and around Morgan County, GA. In the 1910 census, Martha A. Sigmon is living in the household of Andrew J. Hutchinson and is listed as 'Mother' with her age being 81. Here is the disconnect for me: my great, great grand mother is Leila (sometimes spelled Lela) Hutchinson who married George Washington Webb in the Morgan County area. Leila and George had a daughter Elizabeth or "Lizzie" b. 1877, who is my great Grandmother. Lizzie kept many newspaper clippings of family and one is of a Martha Sigmon (although the name is spelled 'Sigmund' in the clipping). This clipping is a photo from the Atlanta Journal dated Sunday May 30, 1909 and is a pic. with the heading "5 Generations at Carrollton". Under the pic it reads:
In the picture are shown Elizabeth and Miller Brock and their five living grandmothers. Reading from right to left, back row, their paternal grandmother, Mrs. William Brock; first row, their paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. M. A. Brock; in the center of the back row; their maternal grandmother, Mrs. J. R. Miller; back row, their maternal great grandmother, Mrs. George Cheney; first row, their maternal great grandmother, Mrs. Martha A. Sigmund of Lithonia.
The is very fragile however I am pretty sure this same Martha Sigmund is in a photograph that I have as well. Does this sound familar to anyone at all? Thanks so much!
